Baby Goat

We have been waiting and waiting for our very first Pygmy Goat Kid and finally at 5:40pm on 4-13-09 we had a little doe kid. It was way exciting and fun for the whole family to be able to see it. Art had just gotten home from work and Crystal came out and said i think the Cheese (the Goats name) is making a bag. We all went out and sure enough Art said she could have it any minute. So after getting the other Goat and two lambs all moved around and the mother in the pen with the good house we walked away to talk with Aunt Dena across the fence. It hadn't been 5 minutes since we put her in and Ashley comes running up saying Dad i think cheese is pushing. Sure enough she was in labor. After watching her for a minute Art decided she needed a little help so he dusted off his scrubs (like they would still fit) and got in the pen with the goat. After a little help from the head nurse (Art) the little girl was born. Art then helped clean of its head and made sure its mouth was clean so she could breathe ok. We then proceeded to make calls and before long had 8-10 visitors in the back yard. After 20 minutes the little girl was up and moving around. Later that night we had to go out and hold the mother and help the baby suck so she could get the hang of it. Art says it didn't taste to good. later we found out that we didn't have to show her. JK
